Word Pop! - Bubble Wrap Sight Words

What started with bubble wrap sight word practice turned into a whole collection of ways to learn words with a bang!  We've included both fine motor and gross motor ways to practice any skills your child is working on: letters, numbers, colors, shapes, math facts, etc.

I wrote the sight words that E is learning on a piece of paper and taped a piece of large bubble wrap on top. She loved practicing her reading as she popped each bubble!

She had to use her fine motor muscles as she poked, pinched, and squeezed the words that she knew.  I would say a word and she'd pop it!

The satisfying pop was so motivating as she worked!

This inspired us to keep some air pocket pillow wrap for gross motor sight word fun.  Just like the fine motor sight word practice I would read a word and E would jump on it identifying it and popping it at the same time!

To switch it up, she read the words on the next line in order from left to right, popping as she went along! This is a great one to one way to teach concepts of print.

Next we tried this square green bubble wrap on the light table but we quickly realized that it was difficult to pop.

Adapting, we marked the words as she read them instead as a version of light table sight word bingo!

Yesterday E even asked me to save my coffee cup lid when I was finished with it so she could "pop words after I read them!"  Great idea! The best part is this one is reusable if you gently poke the bubbles back out from the other side.

    1. She loves popping the cup bubbles, too! I think that's why she suggested it! I bet you could make a whole board of them and reuse it by popping them back out!
