Foam Blocks in Water

Our kids love any sensory play invitation that involves water! Foam blocks are so fantastic in water because they float and the water acts as a glue making them stick to each other and vertical surfaces. We thought of so many learning activities with these two simple materials.

Lots of learning ideas for kids in this foam blocks and water sensory play!

Oh, how I love the Target dollar spot! I grabbed several packages of these foam blocks there in lots of shapes and colors. If you can't find these you could substitute with traditional foam blocks or even foam shape beads

The blocks float in water so it's fun to build structures and attempt to stack several to practice fine motor skills.

Wet foam sticks to surfaces so if you connect several blocks they will stay together. We sorted by shape and color.

The blocks also stick to the side of our container so we could "graph" our shapes by type! We discussed which rows were the longest and shortest as we compared our data to figure out which had more and less.
