We are a bit Nutella obsessed around here! We even make Nutella play dough regularly! One of my other favorite flavors is almond so we experimented to create Nutella Almond Muffins and yum!

We mixed our wet ingredients with an electric mixer first. This included one mashed, very ripe banana (you could also use 1/2 cup of oil or applesauce) and the mashing was the kids' job! Mix in one stick of softened butter (equal to one half cup), a teaspoon of almond extract (optional) and two eggs. We added in 3/4 cup of sugar, too.
We scooped the muffin batter evenly into the muffin pan. This recipe made twelve muffins. We topped each with a dollop of Nutella. I won't ever try to talk you out of using as much Nutella as you please but we added about a tablespoon on top of each muffin. Finally we topped the muffins with a sprinkle of slivered blanched almonds.
