I vividly remember reciting the Five Little Pumpkins poem with my brother when we were little. Now I am thrilled that my kids enjoy it just as much so we created a fine motor retelling activity to go along with this classic Halloween finger play!

If you are unfamiliar with the Five Little Pumpkins poem there are various versions on YouTube but this is one of our favorites:
To create the pumpkins' gate we hot glued craft sticks together. For the pumpkin puppets we hot glued foam jack-o-lantern cut outs (which my mom picked up for us) to wooden clothespins. As we recited the poem, our preschooler added each pumpkin to the fence.
Pinching the clothespins to attach the pumpkins to the fence was a great fine motor strengthening exercise.
