Homeschool Preschool Schedule

We learned right away when we started homeschooling for preschool that we needed a schedule that was flexible. Academics are important to us but they also need to fit well into our day to day family life. This check list has been the best of both worlds and adds responsibility for the kids, too!

As a former public school teacher, I know that even the best planned and well thought out days don't always go as you'd expect. As a mom, I live in this unpredictability. As a homeschooling family, I'm learning to cut myself some slack when it comes to getting it all done. Yet we do set goals for all we'd hope to accomplish on an ideal day of school at home. 

I typed our goals up in a check list which I put in dry erase pocket. Each day when we complete these very open ended tasks (in any order) our preschooler would check off what we had finished.

I purposely kept some of the items open ended. Create could be painting or play dough. Play could be dress up or the doll house. Even Writing could be drawing on a Magnadoodle, making a birthday card, or working on name writing.

Some days I had planned activities and other days our kids completed these as self driven explorations.
