Tally Mark Math for Kids

Kids learn so much better when knowledge is applicable to their lives. Our daughter asks us every day (I'm not exaggerating!) how old we are so we decided to present the information in a different way as we introduced tally marks in this math lesson!

We wrote all the members of our family (including the cats!) and our daughter recorded the ages in tally marks. Once the marks were recorded she practiced counting by fives and ones to check each number.
