Creating with Hearts on the Light Table: Inspired by My Heart Is Like A Zoo

We're back at the light table today with an Valentine themed open ended invitation to play!  We created creatures with hearts!

First, we read My Heart Is Like a Zoo for inspiration.  Next, I cut hearts from transparent binder divider sheets.  I put these on the light table with googly eyes.

E was so focused on this activity, turning the hearts different directions to see what animals it might look like. I loved the fact that the hearts on the light table added a layered dimension, but you could try this activity with paper hearts without a light table.

E wanted to play a game where we would take turns building and the other person would guess the animal being created.  Mr. SPS even got in on the fun making a fire breathing dragon!
