Most people retain information faster and better if it is relevant to their lives. For our preschool All About Me theme, we're practicing number identification with an All About Me Math Race!

We set our foam numbers out in numerical order. This is a task that you can invite the children to help you with or set up before hand.
The kids started at the bottom of the driveway with me. When I asked an All About Me math question, they had to race up to find the correct number. They brought it back relay race style.
Here I had asked them their age so both kids could run at once. For a classroom setting, it might make more sense to take turns and cheer each other on. If you have students that require a bit more support in number identification, you can have another teacher up at the number line helping them find the numeral they need.
All About Me math questions that you might ask:
How old are you?
How many pets do you have?
How many brothers do you have?
How many sisters do you have?
How many wheels are on your bicycle?
How many teeth have you lost?
How many candles will be on your next birthday cake?
What is your bedtime?
How many eyes do you have?
How many shoes do you have on?
How many pillows are on your bed?
Feel free to add more All About Me questions in the comments!
