Solar System Bracelet Craft for Kids

By Devany LeDrew | Labels: , , ,
We love hands on solar system learning activities! We've made plastic lid planets and practiced planetary order with a planet hop game. Today we're sharing a craft that also helps kids review the planets in order as they make a really cool jewelry!

Help kids learn the order of the planets in our solar system with this fun outer space bracelet craft!

We used Craft Project Ideas' black fuzzy sticks and glow in the dark and dark pearl pony beads. They occasionally send us really fun packages of craft supplies to try out which we really appreciate! The only other supplies you'll need are a permanent marker and washi tape is optional but helpful. I'll tell you why in a minute.

I made a model for our daughter to follow choosing a yellow bead for our sun. Next we represented each planet in our solar system with a color that matched the actual planet as closely as we could. We wrote the first letter of each planet on the bead so we could practice naming the planets in order while we made and wore the jewelry. Below is our daughter's bracelet complete with a backwards letter J!

She ended up wearing one of our bracelets on her wrist while turning the other into a necklace for her doll. After wearing the bracelet for awhile the ends of the pipe cleaner were irritating her wrists so we wrapped them with washi tape! You could also do this same craft using yarn for necklaces or anklets.
