Shamrock Cookies

By Devany | Labels:

Shamrock cookies are a perfect way for kids to practice scissor skills!  We had a chance to do some St. Patrick's Day baking one evening after D fell asleep.  E is so excited about the holidays!  This was the perfect chance to spend some solo time with her.

I used a sugar cookie recipe and added green food coloring.  We didn't have a shamrock cookie cutter, but I made flower cookies as a kid by cutting balls of cookie dough with scissors. Bonus fine motor practice!

Cut the cookies about halfway down, first one way, then perpendicular.  Then gently round the points with your fingers.

You could decorate with icing or glaze.  Store them in an air tight container with a piece of bread to keep them soft.
