Fine Motor Math Game with Bread Ties

We found the perfect way to incorporate math with fine motor skills! Inspired by our spelling with bread ties activity we created a dice game which is adaptable so both our toddler and preschooler can play together, too.

You will need recycled bread ties, a Sharpie marker, dice, and play dough. Our older daughter is working on subitizing so she used traditional dice while our toddler used dice with numerals

I wrote numbers and a plus, minus, and equals sign on our bread ties. We rolled the dice then decided if we wanted to add or subtract. I reminded E that if we were subtracting the larger number should come first.

The kids stuck the bread ties into the play dough to demonstrate our math sentence. A simple game for younger learners would be to roll the dice then find the matching number.

We often struggle to find a way toddler D can participate while I homeschool E. This game was perfect as even when she was doing the majority of the academic work, he loved being responsible for putting the math sentence into the play dough at her direction.
